Released 27 August 2026 — BuildCaptain's first release on the Mac App Store. Everything below ships in this version.

App

  • Choose how BuildCaptain appears — menu bar only, Dock only, or both, switchable in Settings. New installs default to Dock and menu bar.
  • Run Default button — the pipeline header has a one-click button between Run and Rerun that starts a build with the pipeline's default parameters, no dialog.
  • Stays running — closing the last window does not quit the app; your pinned pipelines keep updating in the background.
  • Pinned pipelines per Jenkins server — each server keeps its own set of pins, so switching servers no longer mixes them together.
  • Notifications while you are in the app — build results now show a banner even when BuildCaptain is the frontmost app, instead of only when it is in the background.
  • Unified page headers — Logs, AI Agents, and Settings share one page-header style, so every page reads the same way.

AI agents

  • Agent gateway — Claude Code, Codex, or any MCP client can start the builds you allow through the BuildCaptain CLI. See Install the BuildCaptain CLI.
  • Run configurations — define exactly which pipelines an agent may trigger and which parameters it may set. See Agent run configurations and approvals.
  • Per-repository approvals — approve an agent per repository with one click, instead of blanket access.
  • Export and import run configurations — move an approved setup to another Mac, or share it with a teammate, as a file.
  • Clearer errors — agent-facing error messages say what went wrong and what to do about it.

  • Four languages — the site is available in English, German, Spanish, and French, with a language switcher and localized links.
  • Help center — guides in all four languages, from first connection to the AI agent gateway.
  • Jenkins guides — long-form articles on the questions behind the app, written in each language rather than machine-translated.
