About BuildCaptain
BuildCaptain is a native macOS menu bar app for Jenkins pipelines. It puts pinned build status right in your menu bar, with a full stage view, logs, and run, stop, and rebuild controls one click away — so you never keep a browser tab open just to watch CI.
I'm Loris Siegenthaler, a software engineer from Zürich. I built BuildCaptain because watching Jenkins builds should not mean babysitting a browser tab — and because a Mac deserves a native tool for it.
Our mission
Watching a build should not mean babysitting a browser tab. BuildCaptain connects to your existing Jenkins server over trusted HTTPS, keeps the pipelines you care about pinned in the menu bar, and tells you the moment a build breaks, recovers, or finishes. Everything stays native, fast, and out of your way.
Built with
- Swift & SwiftUI — a fast, memory-light native macOS app
- Jenkins REST API + Pipeline Graph View — talks to your server over the REST API and the Pipeline Graph View plugin
- macOS Keychain — your API token is stored securely and never leaves your Mac in the clear
- SvelteKit — the site you're reading right now
